***HOSPITAL BAG***What do you need in your hospital bag? What do you need when you're in labour or immediately after giving birth?
Everyone knows what to pack for the baby BUT WHAT DO YOU PACK FOR YOURSELF? I remember packing my bag ready for big SS’s arrival. He was 3 weeks early and my bag was only half packed. Plus we had a bit of a last minute dash and had to park our car in the ambulance bay so I didn’t even get my bag until after he was born. So all of those ‘labour’ items never even saw the light of day!
Here are my essentials for a more comfortable hospital stay for mama.
Comfortable stretchy clothes. Something that you can feel nice in, or as nice as you can as you walk like John Wayne with a very wobbly tummy.
Slippers. I forgot slippers you need them for walking around the ward, to and from the toilet and to the communal areas of the hospital. Unless it’s the height of summer your feet will be cold.
Get the largest maternity pads you can. People don’t tell you how much blood there will be. I actually thought I was going to bleed to death! The ones you buy in the supermarket are not big enough. The hospital standard ones are the best but they only provide you with one or two, they expect you to bring your own
Snacks for labour but also afterwards. Hospital food is not nice (apart from the post labour tea and toast) and you need to keep your energy up on the ward
Your own towel and pillow. You get both in hospital obviously but it is nice to have some home comforts.
This is not a definitive guide, just what I would recommend. What would you pack?
